Chip and Joan leave their apartment complex to go grocery shopping in their neighborhood. While they have been together for nearly three years while living homeless together, the two are handling being housed in very different ways. Chip is matter of fact and rigid in his ways, while Joan is intensely emotional and having a harder time adapting to sober life. As she gains clarity their relationship is also becoming strained. Chip is caring, assertive and dominant, traits that keep her together in the streets. Now that she is gaining a better sense of herself, she feels stifled by his rigidity, and says they are growing apart.
